Apr 25, 2010 · The TrueTrac works pretty good in the front of my XJ, there are times when it works really good and then there's times when it's OK. Detroit Truetrac is a tough, smooth and also quiet part that can be easily applied to your vehicle. It ensures 27 spline differential for Dana 30, and it doesn’t require any friction modifier additive as it is a maintenance free traction system.

In most cases the Detroit Truetrac units work with the factory (stock) bearings. The exceptions are: 10 bolt 8.5\8.6 GM axles, the “Performance” Dana 35 & 44 and GM12 bolt with 35 spline axles. No other “special” setup is required. Used a number of Posi on street and off road as well as the old Detroit Lockers. Posi's are great for street performance and last a long time before needing a rebuild. The lockers are usually better for race track or off road use due to nose and ruff ness though the way the Truetrac is made it looks like it would be about noiseless in operation so it should be good for both.
